Meriton Finalist in Top InfoVision Award
Meriton's 7200 OSP achieves recognition as one of best metro network technologies
Ottawa, Canada, and Paris, France - October 10, 2006 - Meriton Networks Inc., specialists in Agile Optical Networking, is thrilled to have been declared a finalist in the Metro Network Technologies and Services category, for their 7200 Optical Switching Platform (OSP,) at this years InfoVision Awards 2006. The announcement was made at the Broadband World Forum Europe 2006 in Paris, the leading annual event for European broadband technology developments.
The 7200 OSP, as chosen by BT21CN and deployed in KT Corp (formerly Korea Telecom,) is the industry's first multi-degree WDM switch, sitting at the heart of the Meriton's Agile Optical Networking (AON) solution set. The platform enables the shift from link-by-link wavelength multiplexing to end-to-end wavelength networking, massively simplifying the design and operational management of metro and regional-optical backhaul networks, combined with lowest total cost of ownership. Moreover, the 7200 OSP not only simplifies the engineering of complex WDM networks, but also enables transport infrastructure applications and high-speed services.
We are delighted to have been selected as a finalist for the InfoVision award for the best metro network technology and services, said Mike Pascoe, Chairman and CEO, Meriton Networks. For our 7200 OSP to be recognized as a technology that is enhancing the metro network is a great accolade for Meriton, and a validation for what has been a very successful product for us. The story will not stop here, as we plan to announce more deployments in other large networks over the coming months.
